Butterfly Spring
China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them. Butterfly Spring is situated at the foot of Mount Shenmo, the first of the peaks of Mount Cangshan in the Yunnan Province, 27 kilometers to the south of Dali. The spring rises to form a square shaped pool that is shaded by the dense foliage that lines its banks. The pool is some 50 square meters overall and above it is an ancient decumbent tree. This is the famous Butterfly Tree, so called as in the short interval as spring turns to summer, its fragrant blossom attracts thousands of butterflies. These small multi-colored creatures fly around the pool and settle on the tree in great clusters as they sip the nectar from its blooms. A local legend tells the tale of how it was named long ago. A beautiful Bai maiden named Wengu was spotted by a local despot who wanted to take her as his concubine. The girl refused and she and her lover drowned themselves together in the pool and emerged from the pool as a pair of butterflies. It is also claimed that the lovers return as butterflies every spring. China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
