Gantong Temple

China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.

Gantong Temple is located 6 kilometers or 4 miles south of Dali and is believed to have been founded during the Eastern Han dynasty, who ruled China from 25 to 220 AD, Anno Domini. Gantong Temple, also known as Danshan Temple, is located at the northern bank of the Mocang Brook, and the southern foot of Shengying Peak of Cangshan Mountain. Embraced by undulating hills, green trees and beautiful surroundings, the place has always been a scenic spot and a sacred place of Buddhism.

It was constructed in the Tang Dynasty and there were 36 halls in all. Owing to ravages of soldiery in history, all the halls except one have fallen into ruins. Another.one of them is now under reconstruction. In the 17th year of the Hongwu era in 1384 of the Ming Dynasty, the abbot Wuji led some of his disciples to go on a pilgrimage to Beijing and offered white steeds, camellias and white tea as tribute to the emperor. And from then on, the fame of the temple spread widely and the temple has become very popular among the people as Number One Temple in the Dali area.

China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
