Grape Valley
China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them.
On the western face of the Flaming Mountains, east of Turpan is the Grape Valley. In ancient times, grapes were introduced to the central plains from the Western Regions along the Silk Road. Turpan, once an important strategic place on the Silk Road, has had 2,000 years of history of grape cultivation. The delicious produce was often presented as tribute to the Tang imperial court.
Turpan has a perfect environment to grow grapes as despite the sweltering summer heat that hits Turpan, this 8 kilometer or 5 mile long valley remains cool and humid.. The grapes here have never suffered from plant diseases or pests, so no chemicals or pesticides are applied. Once back Turpan achieved an output of over 8,800 pounds of seedless white grapes per train cart.
The Grape Valley is filled with trellised walkways, that in the peak season of July to August, are covered with bunches of grapes. The valley produces the famous seedless white grape, the manaizi or mare's nipple grape, and red and black grapes in the fall. Peaches, apricots, apples, pomegranates, pears, and together with various types of melons and wines, soon became the region's specialty products. In the valley you will find a park as well as patios and outdoor tables where you can eat the grapes and other fruit or enjoy a delicious meal complemented by the locally produced wine. China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
