Jiuhua Mountain
China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them. Jiuhua Mountain is located to the southwest of Qingyang County in Anhui Province and covers an area of 120 square kilometers. The mountain is one of the sacred Buddhist Mountains of China and is devoted to the bodhisattva Dizang. At one point more than 200 temples and 5,000 monks were found on the slopes of this mountain, but nowadays only 50 well preserved temples stay. Also several devotees persist to come to the mountain on sacred pilgrimages. Most well-known temples are Zhiyuan, Baisuigong, Huacheng and Ganlu. Situated on the Laoye Ridge west of Jiuhua Street, the Incarnation Hall is a pagoda-like composition built on Dizang's Grave. Therefore, it is also called Dizang Pagoda. Before the hall are 100 stone steps, and inside it is a 7 story wooden pagoda with a canopy at the top. Positioned on Tiantai Zhengding 5 kilometers south of Jiuhua Street, over 1,400 meters above sea level, Dizang Buddhist Temple was first built at the foundation of the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty. It was initially called Zhiyuan Nunnery, placed on the highland in the northeastern corner of Jiuhua Street at the foot of the mountain. The temple was initially built in the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty that lasted from 1796 to 1820 and progressively expanded from 1909 to 1933. Located in the center of Jiuhua Street, the Huacheng Temple was the first temple on this mountain. The existing temple is a huge hall in four rows. Jiuhua Mountain is definitely one of the popular tourist attractions in China. It is worth paying a visit while touring the country. This place will leave a pleasing and unforgettable memory and justify the proud cultural tradition of China.
