Li River
China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. Li River, originating from Mountain Mao'er at Xin'an county northeast of Guilin, winds its way southeast for about 437 km, kilometers, passing through Guilin, Yangshuo, Pingle, Zhaoping and finally meets Xi River in Wulin. The 83-km-long waterway from Guilin to Yangshuo is the masterpiece of Li River, decorated with rolling hills, steep cliffs, fantastic caves, leisurely boats and lined bamboos. A poem says, The River is a green silk ribbon, and the hills are jade hair-pins. The cruise along Li River may be divided into three parts, that is, the section from Guilin to Ox Gorge, the section from Ox Gorge to Water-Dropping Village and the third from Water-Dropping Village to Yangshuo.
