However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them. Laying in Dranang, the Samye Monastery was completed in 779 under the patron of Trisong Detsen. The monastery has combined styles of Chinese, Tibetan as well as Indian. The layout was designed totally according to the ideal universe in Buddhist scriptures. Utse, the Great Hall symbolizing Sumeru in perfect Buddhist universe, is the biggest construction in the monastery, which is circled by the sun and moon chapel. Four stupas of different styles, colored in black, red, white and green to symbolize four Heavenly Kings, stands at four corners of the hall. This monastery is secluded from outside world by a round wall, with thousands of Buddha statues sitting on it, which represents a mountain near the border of the universe.
