Shenyang Imperial Palace

Shenyang, one of Chinese heavy industrial cities in northeastern part of China, is the original capital of China's last feudal dynasty, Qing dynasty. The troops of Qing had conquered the Great Wall, the governor of Qing moved the capital from Shenyang to Beijing. Then, the original imperial palace in Shenyang became the palace of the second important city next to the capital. Later it was named Shenyang Imperial Palace.
Shenyang Imperial Palace was built in 1625 when the Manchus declared Shenyang to be their capital. The palace is very similar in design to the Forbidden City in Beijing but slightly smaller and has more than 300 buildings covering an area of 60,000 square meters. Upon founding the Ming dynasty, the Manchus moved their court to Beijing and Shenyang became the 2nd capital. The palace was enlarged and improved over the years and while its layout has the traditional Han style, it also blends Manchu, Mongolian and Han style art.
Most of the exhibited things in the Imperial Palace Museum are antiques left in the original palace during the time of capital moving, including the sword, and the waist knife and antler chair used by the first emperor and the second emperor of Qing respectively. In addition, works of art displayed here are abundant. At the exhibition room of traditional Chinese painting, there are works of some masters in Ming and Qing dynasties. Handicrafts of pottery, porcelain, carving, and texture and lacquer ware can also be found here.
