Zhenguo Temple
China, an East Asian country is one of the world’s oldest civilizations. It has a vast cultural history of more than five thousand years and an outstanding natural beauty. On the other hand, this country has remained a comparatively isolated and secluded one, and being a land of mystery, this country is not known to the western half of the world. However, China is rapidly developing and has grown in the phase of modernization, with an immense speed and is also welcoming the outer world to interact and do business with them. Zhenguo Temple is about 12 kilometers away from the northeast of Pingyao County, occupying an area of 10,892 square meters. This temple was built in 963 in the Northern Han Dynasty, which was part of the Five Dynasties. It was renovated in 1816 during the Qing Dynasty. This temple is divided into the front part and the back part. The gate of this Buddhist temple, the Tianwang Hall, has one bell tower and one drum tower on either side. At the back is the Kwan-yin or Goddess of mercy Shrine and the Dizang or God of death Shrine. Zhenguo Temple is famous for its building technique and the most representational is the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Hall in the center of it. It is one of the three oldest timberworks in mainland China. To protect the Ten-Thousand-Buddha Hall from degradation under the eaves, a large eave that is far longer and wider than the room itself was adopted and Dougong, a kind building technique, supported the large eave. Inside the temple there is the sitting sculpture of Sakyamuni or founder of Buddhism and on its sides are the sculptures of his apprentices along with other gods, all having different facial expressions and shapes. Though renovated several times, they are distinguished by the color-paint features. There is the half stele, an epitaph for Liu Jiqin, of the Northern Han Dynasty collected and kept by the builders of the temple as they found the calligraphy on the stone so beautiful. The 1000 year old dragon scholar tree still remains lush and green. The intricacies of the branches are in the shape of a dragon. China is a popular travel destination for visitors and globe trotters from all over the world who appreciate its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, delicious local cuisine, hospitality and safety. Quality is China's top priority.
